Venezuela and Ecuador are massing troops at their respective borders with Colombia after that nation attacked a terrorist base inside Ecuador:
CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuela and Ecuador mobilized troops to their borders with Colombia on Sunday, intensifying a diplomatic crisis after Colombian forces killed a senior guerrilla leader at a jungle camp in Ecuador.
In addition, Colombia said late Sunday night that documents from a seized notebook computer belonging to the guerrilla, Raúl Reyes, pointed to collaboration between Ecuador’s government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, Latin America’s largest insurgency.
The documents describe communications between Mr. Reyes, the FARC’s second-in-command, and an emissary of President Rafael Correa in which Ecuador’s government asked for the FARC’s intelligence on police commanders in eastern Ecuador in order to transfer them out of the region.
The documents, made public by Colombian police director Óscar Naranjo, also suggested that Mr. Correa was open to formalizing ties with the FARC. A spokesman for Ecuador’s government in Quito called the claims a lie, according to The Associated Press.
Colombia also says that there is evidence that Venezuela is supporting FARC:
(CNN) — Evidence found in computers seized in a raid over the weekend suggests that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez recently gave the leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia $300 million, Colombia’s national police chief said Monday.
Speaking at a news conference, Gen. Oscar Naranjo also said evidence in the computers suggests FARC had given Chavez 100 million pesos when he was a jailed rebel leader.
FARC has fought to overthrow the Colombian government for 40 years.
Chavez had no immediate response to the allegations involving him.
And if that weren’t bad enough news:
Naranjo said other evidence in the computers suggests FARC purchased 50 kilograms of uranium this month.
For what ? Well, I’m sure they weren’t just collecting rocks.

“Chavez had no immediate response to the allegations involving him.”
Because they are true?
Maybe now Chavez and FARC will have to stop circle-jerking each other. Chavez is just trying to find any opportunity he can to damage the US and it’s economy further. It’s so obvious that it’s sickening.
Who the hell cares if they chased a scumbag into the rain forests and blew him up? Were some trees damaged in the forest, which later lodged a complaint with the UN? Oh the humanity!

Although the newspaper headlines suggest “massing of troops at the border” a more recent report from AFP suggests rather that Venezuela has ordered troops to the border (no actual movement) and that Ecuador has placed the 11,000 troops already at the border on heightened alert. The operative line from the AFP report is: On Monday, though, no large-scale military movements had taken place. (see report here: http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5iWzlEd06o1UoIdZxv17wkp18uz4g ) I believe this is just huffing and puffing.
