Florida And Michigan To The DNC: Don’t Count Us Out

by @ 5:07 pm on March 5, 2008.

The Governor’s of Florida and Michigan, one a Republican and the other a Democrat, have issued the following statement:

Florida and Michigan Governors to DNC and RNC:
Don’t Silence 5,163,271 Americans

TALLAHASSEE- Florida Governor Charlie Crist and Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm released a joint statement today calling on the Democratic and Republican National Committees with a very clear message: Seat our delegates.

Joint Statement from Florida Governor Charlie Crist and Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm.

“The right to vote is at the very foundation of our democracy. This primary season, voters have turned out in record numbers to exercise that right, and it is reprehensible that anyone would seek to silence the voices of 5,163,271 Americans. It is intolerable that the national political parties have denied the citizens of Michigan and Florida their votes and voices at their respective national conventions.

According to the DNC and RNC, Florida and Michigan have violated party rules by moving up their primaries. Today, we each will call upon our respective state and national party chairs to resolve this matter and to ensure that the voters of Michigan and Florida are full participants in the formal selection of their parties’ nominees. We must restore the rights of the more than 5 million voters whose voices have been silenced.”

As I noted earlier this week, Governor Christ has already suggested a re-vote in Florida.

Marc Ambinder made this comment on the subject last night:

[I]f Florida and Michigan resubmit delegate plans to the DNC, if the DNC approves the plans, and if the states can find a way to pay for primaries, the contests would be on.

Potential complications: who’s paying? A Florida primary would cost $10M (though I’d bet HRC’s supporters could raise $10M in a moment’s notice to pay for it), and Michigan Dems — some of them — might want a primary.

The most likely dates: mid-April or mid-June

As I understand it, under current DNC rules the options that Florida and Michigan would have would be to either submit the delegates selected or hold caucuses before the convention. However, if the push for renewed primaries continues, as I think it will, then it would seem to be inevitable that we’ll be seeing full-fledged primaries in Michigan and Florida sometime in the spring.

And they are right to not want to pay for the re-voting delima. Hillary pushed for the states to push their dates to Super-Tuesday and agreed to not campaign in those states along with Edwards and Obama. She knew she was telling a lie when the whole thing got started, it is the way she and her husband, Rendell and others work, they are con-artists and sad at it too.

Obama is still ahead, and even with Michigan and Florida having planned Caucus dates in June, he will still be in the lead with delegates. The thing is he is usually the one who does well in a Caucus and Hillary will fight for a regular primary, so she better come up with the $30 Million bucks to pay for those primaries because and I say she won’t do it, so the states will no doubt Caucus. Then what?

Obama is still ahead, and she is just so racist, lets just get honest about this. Let Hillary go to jail in October, and let her bite on that, because the Republicans will throw that at a Clinton ticket and run away with the election in November. She can not win, she is unelectable. Look at this link: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=56868
