I’m not sure what the logic behind this is, but Hillary was making the morning news show rounds and hinted at the possibility of a Clinton/Obama (or Obama/Clinton) ticket in the fall:
The morning after reviving her candidacy with two big primary wins, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) hinted Wednesday that she and Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) may wind up as ticket mates.
“That may, you know, be where this is headed, but of course we have to decide who’s on the top of ticket,” Clinton said with a laugh on the CBS’s “The Early Show.” “I think that the people of Ohio very clearly said that it should be me.”
Ugh. The words “who’s on top” and Hillary Clinton should never be spoken in the same sentence.
Update: Obama responds — not so fast:
“We are just focused on winning the nomination. That is my focus. I respect Sen. Clinton. She has been a tenacious opponent. It is premature to talk about a joint ticket.”
Gee, do ya think ?
Update # 2: Justin Gardner thinks Hillary is angling for the Veep slot herself:
It’s been well established that Hillary can’t win this thing outright. She knows she can’t get more pledged delegates, and she knows if she tries to take the superdelegate route it could very well fracture the party. She also knows that trying to seat Michigan and Florida, or even trying to redo them in a quick, haphazard fashion would be a no go with the DNC.
So…she’s running for VP now. And she’ll force his hand because either he makes her the VP choice or he’ll keep getting bloodied up by her “kitchen sink” strategy…a strategy that is proving to be effective.
Strategically this makes even more sense if you think about Hillary wanting to be President. She can ride the Obama wave into the White House, serve 8 years as VP and then run for President after that. OR, if Obama has four years, and then loses in 2012, she can run in 2016. OR, if the Obama movement stalls and McCain somehow pulls this one out, she can run again on the “I told you so” platform in 2012.
How very devious Clintonesque of her.

She wishes she can coerce this ticket with her on it, and she would definitely take the VP position, bet your life on it. But, Obama should be smarter than this, we do not need a Clinton in the White House ever again. The Clintons will no doubt be too close in a position even as VP and mysteriously Obama would meet with his death; and of course Hillary would have the perfect alibi. No, we don’t need her in the White House, nor her husband in any capacity, the country doesn’t need that drama.
