Patrick Swayze Has Terminal Cancer

by @ 7:57 pm on March 5, 2008. Filed under Celebrities

This story was in the National Enquirer this week, but now it has apparently been confirmed:

Twinkle-toed tough guy Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and might only have weeks to live, a rep for the dirty dancer said yesterday.

Swazyze’s publicist confirmed to Page Six that he’s suffering from pancreatic cancer, which could tragically bring down the curtain on his remarkably diverse career.

Swazye was diagnosed with the cancer more than a month ago.

The average life expectancy is six to nine months, with only 4 percent of patients live more than five years

Sad news.

One of my favorite actors…..soooooooooo sad, he has so much more to do. I pray he beats the odds and lives longer then most with this horrific illness. I believe this killed Michael Landon.

I don’t follow Hollywood and I ended my TV watching habit in 2001, but this highly visible case with Patrick Swayze could help millions of citizens to get early diagnosis and treatment.

From what I have read about pancreatic cancer, blockage of the bile ducts and accessory pancreatic ducts by bile stones is believed to be a major factor in the development of pancreatic cancer.

If this is true, then the early removal of the stones, a fairly simple laproscopic procedure, could prevent the early onset of pancreatic cancer. People who have a history of “gallstones” or have had relatives who have had gall bladders removed, are likely to also have stones forming in the gall bladder, and sometimes in the bililary duct tree. These stones tend to migrate into positions where they block key intersections, including the outlet of the pancreas.

Like many other cancers, early detection is the key right now to survival. I hope that Patrick Swayze’s case is not as advanced as has been reported. I also hope that others will use this bad news as a prompt to ask their physician about their own status with regard to bile stones.

Patrick is a great actor, dancer and martial artist. Hopefully he will find out about the Koch cure, oxygen and ozone therapies.

I too am a fan of Patrick Swaze and hope the best for him. Also, like Patrick, I too have a terminal cancer and hope that both of us come out of the 6 month period with continued hope and life

  6. I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer. My prayers are with everyone to has suffered from this disease. There needs to be more research for this cause!
