What If There’s A Florida Re-Vote ?

by @ 11:41 am on March 7, 2008.

According Rasmussen Reports, the ground in Florida hasn’t changed much since the primary on January 29th:

If Florida decides to have a second Presidential Primary this year, Hillary Clinton will begin the race with a sixteen-percentage point lead over Barack Obama. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows that Clinton attracts 55% of the Sunshine State Primary Vote while Obama earns 39%.

Florida voted on January 29 in violation of Democratic Party rules. Clinton won that Primary by seventeen percentage points, although the candidates did not actively campaign in the state. There has been talk of a do-over” primary so that Florida’s delegates can be counted at the Democratic convention in August.

Meanwhile, Florida Democrats overwhelmingly favor having another vote:

Sixty-three percent (63%) of Florida Democrats favor a “do-over” Presidential Primary in their state. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 28% of Democrats are opposed.

When Republican’s are included, the state of Florida is pretty much evenly split on the question have having another primary.
