Failed Vice-Presidential Candidate Geraldine Ferarro, part of one of the most unsuccessful Presidential tickets in American history, says that Barack Obama is “lucky” to be a black candidate for President:
“I think what America feels about a woman becoming president takes a very secondary place to Obama’s campaign – to a kind of campaign that it would be hard for anyone to run against,” she said. “For one thing, you have the press, which has been uniquely hard on her. It’s been a very sexist media. Some just don’t like her. The others have gotten caught up in the Obama campaign.
“If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position,” she continued. “And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”
Marc Ambinder has the classic comeback:
Because running as a black guy named Barack Hussein Obama is soooo easy
So will the Clinton campaign repudiate this statement ? Ferraro isn’t just another politician, she’s “one of her top fundraisers, member of Clinton’s finance committee, and a former Democratic vice presidential nominee.”
But let’s examine Ferarro’s logic a but. According to her, Barack Obama would not be where he is right now if he was a white guy. What about Hillary ? If she was just another woman, rather than the former First Lady — and not just any First Lady but one whose husband had cheated on her numerous times, including while he was in the White House — does anyone seriously think she’d be a top tier Presidential candidate ?
She’d be lucky to represent Chapaqua in the N.Y. Legislature.

Ferraro has a point. I’ve seen plenty of images of Obama that have been carefully selected to showcase him in a near saintly fashion. Doubt it? Check Rolling Stone’s latest cover of Obama. They actually photoshopped an aura around him.
Clinton is routinely discussed either in terms of being on overzealous power freak (and let’s face it, she is, but so is the rest of the pack), or being a second fiddle intellect (what did she do in the White House anyway?). Let’s not forget that she was the first to TRY to take on big pharma and deliver a healthcare system for everyone.
She’s been unfairly burned for it ever since (“We don’t want no Hillarycare” being a common Republican refrain).
Hillary is no saint. But you know what? Neither is Obama, and I wish people would stop thinking that he’s going to magically make all of America’s problems go away.
That’s a recipe for disappointment.

Even if Ferraro intended this to be a “Racist” comment, she botched it. She is way behind time; all America has ever has is a white man president. She took all this time out and reemerged with nothing to say of importance.
