With only two episode’s left in the short second season, things aren’t looking good for Season No. 3:
With only two episodes left to air, “Jericho” has a long way to climb back to the kind of audiences it had in the first season after hitting its lowest rating of the season Tuesday night.
“Jericho” earned a 3.8 rating/6 share according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research. That’s down from the 3.9/7 it earned the previous week, which had previously matched a season low that was first set in the second week. It finished last in the 10 p.m. hour behind “Law & Order: SVU” on NBC and “Primetime” on NBC.
It was the network’s worst performing show.
And Jericho is one of those shows on the brink whose fate must be decided soon:
CBS must decide quickly since only three episodes remain in Season 2, and the network has to choose Ending A or Ending B. Two conclusions to the season have been shot. One puts a narrative lid on the apocalyptic series (lest protesting fans pelt CBS executives with thousands of pounds of nuts again), the other more of a cliffhanger. CBS notes that the show gains from DVR viewership and online viewing, but after its performance the past two weeks, most doubt the citizens of “Jericho” will live to fight another season.
Sad to see, but things aren’t looking good and no amount of nuts is going to change CBS’s mind this time.
