Shame On You Senator Warner and Senator Webb

by @ 12:16 pm on March 14, 2008.

Virginia’s two Senators were among 71 other Senators who voted against a proposal by Senator Jim DeMint that would have placed a one year moratorium, an amendment that even Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton could agree on:

Presidential politics swept onto the floor of the Senate yesterday, as the three contenders took a rare break from the campaign trail to return to Washington, cast a few votes and spar over spending on government pork.

The warring Democratic candidates — Sens. Barack Obama (Ill.) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) — shook hands and chatted amiably when they met in the Senate, where their votes helped Democratic leaders usher their $3 trillion budget blueprint through the closely divided chamber on a 51-44 vote.

Both also voted in favor of a contentious amendment, that would place a one-year moratorium on the home-state projects known as earmarks — a measure, also supported by Republican Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), that failed on a 29 to 71 procedural vote.

The full list of pork lovers can be found here and among them are these 26 Republican porkers.
