The 7 Cylons before (except D'Anna, who is deactivated for the time being) claim to not know who the Final Five are, and if the final Cylon died, they would show up in the goo bath...thus giving their identity away. The only way for the producers to avoid a HUGE storyline gaffe would be to make the Final Cylon someone who hasn't died. The Final Cylon cannot be someone who has already died.
