I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Earth Day Concert cancelled, by Mother Earth:

The Earth Day Festival, a free concert on the National Mall, was suspended just before 2:30 p.m. today when the skies cracked open with a rainstorm.

“Holy Moses!” actor Chevy Chase marveled from the stage as rain began to drench the crowd. Moments later, a festival official announced that an electrical storm was passing over the Mall and that attendees should seek refuge in the nearby Smithsonian musems “for the next 20 or 30 minutes.”

The suspension came just after a performance by the Indiana rock band Umphrey’s McGee, whose singer, Brendan Bayliss, said: “You’re all getting wet for a good cause.”

“Without rain, there’d be no Earth,” shrugged the event’s executive producer, Peter Shapiro.

After a 50-minute delay, the festival resumed — but not for long. Organizers soon cancelled the rest of the show because of continued rain.

A flood watch is in effect for the region through tonight.

Heh.
