Ron Paul’s Friends: China Isn’t Any Worse Than America

by @ 3:17 pm on April 22, 2008.

Long ago, I concluded that the nonsense coming from LewRockwell.com was worth ignoring, but this one just takes the cake:

“The human rights issue has become the centerfold of media disinformation.

“China is no model of human rights but neither are the US and its indefectible British ally, responsible for extensive war crimes and human rights violations in Iraq and around the World. The US and its allies, which uphold the practice of torture, political assassinations and the establishment of secret detention camps, continue to be presented to public opinion as a model of Western democracy to be emulated by developing countries, in contrast to Russia, Iran, North Korea and the People’s Republic of China.

“While China’s alleged human rights violations in relation to Tibet are highlighted, the recent wave of killings in Iraq and Palestine are not mentioned. The Western media has barely acknowledged the Fifth ‘anniversary’ of Iraq’s ‘Liberation’ and the balance sheet of the US sponsored killings and atrocities perpetrated against an entire population, in the name of a ‘global war on terrorism’.

Because, you know, guilt-by-association has become the paleo-libertarian mantra.

This is, quite frankly, nonsense.

Yes, we’ve made mistakes in Iraq, but they don’t compare to the dictatorship that is the People’s Republic Of China.

Unless, of course, you belong to the libertarian wing of the Hate America First crowd that has hijacked the good name of Ludwig von Mises to spread their nonsense.

I actually agree with what he is saying. We have been doing some very nasty things. Now we have over 4,000 Americans dead and at least 600,000 people in Iraq who have done nothing wrong but live in Iraq. We did this all for oil, and greed. There was no terrorism is Iraq before we blew it to hell. How can you be so blind. Ron Paul is one of the men in our government who uses common sense and honesty when it comes to politcs. Who ever wrote this article you are blind to reality. Iraq only has a population of about 30 million and we have killed 1 in every 30 people.

I agree with LewRockwell.com too (so you can delete this comment if you like practicing fascism)

Correct this if I am wrong. The USA is responsible for…
    war crimes
    human rights violations
    torture
    political assassinations
    secret detention camps
    terrorism
    murder
    abortion
forcing our way of life on others
    removing habeas corpus
taking away people’s life, liberty and pursuit of happiness

Who are we to judge others, we’re all ‘cafeteria christians’ anyways who don’t live by any moral standard but by greed called capitalism all under a facade to make us feel superior to others.

Again, is any of this incorrect? Please correct me.

Tim, that figure of 600,000 comes from one report that is a year and a half old and much higher than any other report ever made. Even those of biased anti-war groups estimate it to be under 100,000 today. 100,000 is still a high number, but to say that we’re no better than China because of the Iraq War? Come on… I’m no supporter of the war but I think it’s ridiculous to assert that the unintentional killing of civilians in war is equal to the intentional human rights abuses by China.

*Doug* It is interesting that you refer to the PRC as a “dictatorship.” Dictionary.com defines that word as “absolute, imperious, or overbearing power or control.” If you’ve lived there, as I have you would know that the government is far from overbearing, no more absolute than our cherished system here and as far as imperious goes… the U.S. does a way better job of that. To attempt to correct you, the PRC is a “republic.” Defined as “a state in which the head of government is not a monarch or other hereditary head of state.” We here in the U.S. are a republic of a different kind. Ron Paul is an educated and insightful academician who has studied more than the Western media pablum it appears that you have apparently been spoonfed… Continue with your diatribe, you’re very entertaining.
