Here - we created a calculator so you can figure out how much you’ll save by this measure (hint, for most people it won’t even by a case of beer - unless you drink Coors Light, in which case you can get your beer but you won’t be able to get any snacks).

[…] again, the gas tax holiday idea is a phony, pandering scam.   […]

  3. RevAaron Says:

I didn’t get this myself- I’ve been saying the same thing since the idea of a “gas tax holiday” was first floated. Not only would you not see that much of a savings because of the law of supply and demand, you might very well lose money during the “holiday,” when the artificially deflated price drives the demand up, and then again driving up the price, quite likely more than the $0.18/gal tax did in the first place.

But even in a perfect scenario, if the gas price doesn’t shoot up, when the “vacation” is over, the price will be back at a place higher than if there was no “tax holiday” in the first place.

If this idea was tried, McCain, most Republicans, Clinton and every other pandering hack would probably keep it going until the “non-recession” the electon was over- otherwise the fallout might affect their chances of election. :P

I wonder that why Obama is always right on the reddit links…Ask yourself; is he “always” right, or it is YOU who wants to think that he is right…

Infatuation, charisma, prowess of speech is what is driving many crazy - and makes him ALWAYS right.

  5. Bill Says:

One thing is for sure, Obama certainly won’t advocate any drilling in Anwar, S. Dakota, or in the Gulf. He also won’t allow obselete military bases be converted into oil refineries. He’s too beholden to the Sierra Club and the other ‘green’ organizations…none of which are helping the rest of us buy gas. But then, you have to kiss the butts of the folks that are paying your fare, now don’t you?

  6. Frank Says:

    Gaurav -

Well, thing is, when someone is right, they’re right. Sure, being charismatic doesn’t make one right… but a lot of folks seem to need to understand that being charismatic doesn’t make one wrong, either. We’ve been governed by uncharismatic, ill-spoken, pandering fools for so long that I can understand why someone could be mistrustful of someone who isn’t; but just as the Obamaniacs need to realize that the guy is only human and is sometimes wrong, a lot of folks on the other side need to realize that the guy knows a thing or two and isn’t always wrong. (I will be reprinting this reply several times a day for the next few weeks, alternately substituting “Clinton” for “Obama” as the necessity arises ;)

    absolutely correct.

I don’t know if you all are aware of The Oil Drum, but they’ve been, erm, banging the drum on this pretty hard over the past few days.

  9. Karen Says:

Gaurav, You are indeed correct. Senator Obama is always (okay, almost always) right. He does have charisma and prowness of speech. He also is extremely bright and stands for those beliefs that I stand for. He’s amazing! Thanks for pointing it out.

    Obama ‘08.

Gaurav, Maybe you should ask yourself if by calling you an idiot I want OTHER PEOPLE to realize you are an idiot, or whether I want YOU to realize you’re an idiot.

[…] The thing is, you expect that kind of economic ignorance from Democrats, especially Democrats who’ve built their career on pandering with phony populism the way Hillary Clinton has.
