John Edwards spoke about the Democratic race and his refusal to endorse either one of the remaining candidates on the Today Show this morning:
And in a longer interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe:
So Edwards is still playing coy, to the point where he won’t even tell us who he voted for in a primary that’s over and done with. But the real question is this:
Who cares who John Edwards supports for President ?
Let’s face it, he’s a failed Vice-Presidential candidate who ran a failed Presidential campaign. He’s got 19 delegates to his name. The people who supported him in January and February have, presumably, already moved on to other candidates. Unless the race comes down to a razor-thin margin, which is unlikely, there is absolutely nothing that an Edwards endorsement brings to either Senator Clinton and Senator Obama.
At this point, Edwards’ silence serves only the interests of one man John Edwards. As long as he follows Al Gore’s strategy and stays above it all by not endorsing, he’ll continue to be invited on the morning news shows and the press will continue calling him. Once he endorses, he’s just another failed Presidential candidate.
