Hank Steinbrenner is back, and he’s channeling his dad circa 1979:
Right on cue, Hank Steinbrenner bashed the Yankees.
Hours before Joe Girardi insisted his team was playing hard after a 2-1 loss against he Rays, here is what Hank Steinbrenner told Kevin Kernan of the Post:
“We’ve got to forget about all the injuries and start playing our butts off. The bottom line is that the team is not playing the way it is capable of playing. These players are being paid a lot of money and they had better decide for themselves to earn that money.”
This was my favorite part:
“This is going to get turned around. If it’s not turned around this year, then it will be turned around next year, by force if we have to.”
By force? What does that mean, executions at dawn for anybody not trying hard enough?
Probably, and the first victim would be Joe Girardi.
Here’s my prediction — if the Yankees don’t make the post-season this year, Girardi will be gone faster than you can say “Billy Martin”
