As I’ve stated here on many occasions, I’ve got several problems with the illegal immigration policies that the Prince William County Board of Supervisors have passed over the past year or so, but there’s no way in the world that I, or any resident of Prince William County, should stand for this nonsense:
The United Nations plans to examine Prince William County’s aggressive crackdown on illegal immigrants during a visit next week.
Jorge Bustamante, the United Nation’s special rapporteur on migrants’ rights, plans to tour Manassas and Woodbridge, receive briefings on local enforcement measures, and attempt to meet with local officials.
He contacted immigrant leaders in the county two months ago to begin preparing for a visit, saying he was interested in the landmark nature of the county’s actions.
Special rapporteurs are tasked with reviewing human-rights issues of international concern to raise political pressure and shape public opinion, but cannot issue sanctions.
Toothless or not, the last thing I want to see is some U.N. bureaucrat or self-appointed expert coming here and telling us what to do.
Why not deal with countries that actually violate human rights before you come and worry about something enacted by a democratically elected board ?
In case you can’t find any such nation, let me get you started:
- China
- North Korea
- Russia
- Myanmar
- Turkey
- Zimbabwe
- Sudan
- Chad
- Libya
- Syria
- Saudi Arbia
- Iran
That should be enough to keep you busy for, oh I don’t know, about three hundred years.
Go clean those places up and then maybe, though not likely, I’ll listen to what you have to say.
Until then, leave us alone.

FWIW, the police of the town of New Ipswich, NH also tried to do some enforcing of immigration and drew some flak for it, although I don’t think the UN (!?) got involved.
