Apparently, things are going so well in Prince William County right now that the government has time to worry about color schemes at gas stations:
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Prince William County doesn’t like the color scheme on a Woodbridge gas station and has ordered the owner to replace its signs.
The owner spent $32,000 on new signs and a striped color theme for the Fast Fuels station. The colors are red and yellow.
The county ordered Fast Fuels on Old Bridge Road to replace the colors with white paint after citizens complained the station violated zoning regulations.
The company told county supervisors it thought its 2007 application for a special use permit had clearly indicated it would change the color of the canopy over the station from the white that had been there since 1996.
Channel 7 reports that days after last month’s grand opening, the new owner received a letter from the county that said the permit approvals were a mistake.
Left unanswered is the question — why should the Prince William County government have the authority to tell business owners what color scheme they can use ?
