Below The Beltway

I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Thought For The Day

In the end, I think we will find that McCain `08 is a slightly less competent version of Bob Dole’s 1996 Presidential campaign.

And we all know how that one ended.

  1. I disagree.

McCain is probably the only conservative who can actually win in this election. He’s conservative enough to get the right wing vote and liberal enough to get independent votes as well as some confused liberals.

  2. Kevin says:

I think McCain will be beaten quite handily by Obama, but Christopher is right, he was the best Republicans had this year.

  3. Kevin,

You and Christopher are correct. There is no candidate that ran for the GOP nomination who would even be doing this well at this point in the race.

Huckabee ? Obama would be ahead of him by double digits by now.

Romney ? Maybe a little closer than the Huckster, but I find it amusing that all the conservative who disliked Romney eight months ago are in love with him now.

Fred Thompson ? Well, his campaign would have been handicapped by the fact that the candidate would have spent the entire time period from May through oh about October 31st napping.

And don’t get me started about the rest.
