Amazing....no matter what is being discussed McCain's people have to bring up the POW issue.

I agree that all POW's should be respected for their time served in that dire state. However, there is a good reason that no one has passed a law stating that all POW's should serve a Presidential term....i.e there is nothing in that experience that prepares someone for the office of presidency.

Phillip Butler, a Vietnam POW who was at "Hanoi Hilton" years before McCain arrived to become a "POW" so he was there even longer than McCain has publicly said that although he likes John McCain he will not vote for John McCain. According to Butler, "I furthermore believe that having been a POW is no special qualification for being President of the United States. The two jobs are not the same, and POW experience is not, in my opinion, something I would look for in a presidential candidate."

In fact, Butler says he won't vote for John McCain because he is too hotheaded (i.e. impulsive) and that at his age (combined with the health effects of being a POW) means that he is not "Fit" for the job.

So since you brought the POW issue up (that wasn't relevant to our conversation) I have addressed that issue.

Now will someone please explain how being a POW prepares someone for the job of President of the U.S.?

mosquito,

Just because Obama earned his wealth doesn't make him automatically more in touch with reality. Also I think McCain paid his dues in the navy. I wouldn't call being a POW "privileged" as you do.

I just wish this whole issue would get dropped. It has little to do with anything that actually matters, and both candidates are a lot less in touch with "regular people" than they would like to think.

The only thing Rezko allegedly did was to "advise" Obama on the house price and maybe suggested a price to bid on the house. IF you had a friend who understood real estate valuation and you were buying a house wouldn't you ask your friend about the deal you were thinking of making? There is nothing illegal or unethical about this real estate transaction of Obama's. The guy who sold the house has publicly stated that Rezko was not involved in the deal nor did Rezko do anything to get the price of the house lowered....

John McCain can't even keep track of the fact that he owns 10 homes....the vast majority of them (if not all of them) are worth more than Obama's one home...It was only within the last two years that the Obama's were able to pay off their student loans and get that nice home and it was from the book sales from Obama's writing.

I'm so sick of the lies and innuendo instead of focusing on the issues....

If folks did their research they'd see how "privileged" John McCain has been for his entire military and Senate career....

buzz...buzz...

buzz..buzz..mosquito

Fact is Obama was NOT born with a silver spoon in his mouth...unlike George Bush AND John McCain....Obama had to earn everythin he purchased...
