Most Absurd Comment Ever

by @ 3:47 pm on August 29, 2008. Filed under 2008 Election, John McCain, Politics, Sarah Palin

Fox News Channel’s Steve Doocy says Sarah Palin has foreign policy experience because her state is across the Bering Sea from Russia.

Yeah right.

And Bill Clinton had military experience because he called out the National Guard once.

This just proves how intellectually vapid the hosts on Fox News truly are.

Illinois is right next to Canada !
    So it’s all equal !

  2. Not from Alaska says:

Asinine, talking heads, now here’s a job that should be exported

  3. Matthew says:

Um, he was being sarcastic about her having experience due to being close to Russia, he’s trying to knock it into the other guy’s head that Palin is a pretty bad choice for VP.

  4. jim says:

Allright, I hate pravda aka fox news as much as if not more than the next guy, but that was actually said in jest.

  5. Jim says:

Steve Doocy has never ceased to amaze me. He is the most air-headed person I’ve ever encountered on a news network, and I’ve encountered many. I’m sure his bosses at Fox understand that Steve is a moron. Even his co-hosts often give looks of “duh” to the audience and to each other after his frequent ditsy moments. This is the kind of guy that taints the journalistic integrity of the mainstream media. Nice guy, but wow; and why do you have that job? What talent can he possibly possess? I see no evidence of broadcasting or journalistic ability in Steve Doocy. He’s just a smiling doofus.

  6. Bill says:

The Left and MoveOn.org is just upset because they have to change their attack/smear/drive-by strategy now. They were expecting Romney or some other guy they knew. Now they’ve got a little more delicate problem on their hands…they’ve already dissed a lot of women with the Hillary fiasco. From what I’m hearing, Obama talks a good line, but Palin actually follows through with execution of her views. That’s a huge difference.

    Darnit, lost my post :(

Funny thing in a blog titled “Most Absurd Comment Ever” it is matched by equally absurd comments.

Thought there was a little thing called Michigan between Illinois & Canada. No? ;)

And giving Steve Duecy credit for possessing the intelligence to comment in “jest” or with “sarcasm”? Now that is absurdly funny! Can’t wait for Colbert to pick up on his buddy Duecy’s mental olympics.

But thanks for the post, as I used it to discredit some moron that claimed Palin’s only shortcoming was her lack of foreign policy experience.

Maybe Duecy sank Palin before she even set sail across the Bering Straights en route to the global security critical 2008 Kamchatka Summit!

    ;)

  9. Nick says:

Bill: Careful to not assume that any more women would have voted for Hillary simply because of her gender. Early in the debates we learned that no more black people would vote for Obama simply because they shared a demographic.

  10. Milo Berrios says:

Sarah Palin has like, trilingual foreign relations expertise, with Russia and Canada on both sides of Alaska. A bunch of water, too!

  11. Ymal Brucker says:

All the candidates are from states that border foreign countries. McCain’s Arizona borders Mexico, Obama’s Illinois borders Canada, and Biden’s Delaware borders New Jersey.

  12. jesse says:

    “This…is…HUUUUGE!”

  13. [...] She has no foreign policy experience. None. [...]

  14. Andrea Thorn says:

Illinois is bordered by several states. None of them are Michigan. Nor does it border Canada.

  15. Rebecca says:

Ok people, I feel like I am on a college chat session reading all these foolishly idealistic quips from viewers. Please do not post your thoughts unless you have something profound to say. Always look at both sides of the issues before reaching a daft desision.
I believe McCain and Palin are stupendous.

  16. Sarah Palin…..wtf??!! Governor for several months of a state with, as one commentator stated, 12 people and a bunch of caribou? Foreign policy experience – none. Economic policy experience – none. National experience – none. McCain has blown it with this pick.

  17. NYkrinDC says:

I think the best line I’ve heard so far on Palin and her governorship of Alaska comes from Adrian at Politics & Soccer:

“governing Alaska is like governing Sim City with the free money cheat. It’s easy to repeal taxes and fund infrastructure at the same time when you have a money spigot.”

  18. [...] On Friday, I noted that Fox News airhead talking head Steve Doocy had made the absurd comment that Sarah Palin has foreign policy experience because Alaska is near Russia. [...]

I vote for Wide-eyed American’s comment that “Illinois is right next to Canada !” as the new “Most Absurd Comment Ever”

You might check a map before making a statement like that…save yourself from looking absurd.

  23. ellen says:

yeah she also has foreign policy experience with Canada!
OMG! And McCain has foreign policy experience with Mexico! dude the republicans are set!

  26. [...] She has no foreign policy experience. None. [...]

  27. [...] of course. Back in August 2008, Steve Doocy at Fox News was the first one to make the claim that Palin’s experience as Governor of Alaska somehow endowed her with foreign policy experien… Cindy McCain repeated that comment shortly thereafter, and the McCain campaign continued to push [...]
