Gov. Palin says she got rid of a private jet by putting it on eBay.

Does anyone know if this is really true?

Was the jet sold at a reasonable price?

She talks about this as if it’s a good thing. Was it really a good thing for the state of Alaska? How did that work out?

Oh, and as for the Stevens 527 thing, that was in 2002, before she was appointed to the Oil and Gas Commission and was able to see the smoke-filled rooms and brown envelopes. We knew the AK GOP top brass were ungodly egotists (Murkowski was proof enough getting the state succession law rewritten so he could appoint his duaghter Senator before his inaugration as Governor), but we didn’t know how corrupt they were until Palin started blowing the whistle.

Doug,
First off, that’s the last time I comment after 2AM. My lines looked a lot less hostile when I was outrunning badly needed sleep.

Still, I think you’re discounting what Palin did. She could have blown the entire $200M on the Bridge, and then asked for more money to finish it in following years. Instead, she chose to shut it down.

Is it the great principled crusader meme? No, but it’s nothing either. That was my point.

Have you read the links she campaigned as Governor in favor of the project, she didn’t change her mind until after Congress has already targeted the project for elimination.

Her suggestion she said “no thanks” to Congress is disingenuous at best.

Not to mention the fact that she was a huge fan of earmarks when she was a Mayor, and linked to Ted Stevens’ 527 program.

I don’t want Obama to win. I don’t want McCain to win. I think freedom in America will suffer, albeit in different ways, under either of them.

All right, Doug, that’s it.

I’ve had it with your nonsense on this.

Governor Palin’s position was clear; once she found out how much the Bridge was going to cost, she killed it.

Furthermore, she was under no obligation to “return the money.” The Congressional authorization specifically told Alaska to spend it as it pleased (http://www.americansforprosperity.org/index.php?id=3908). She diverted it to more worthy projects, exactly what McCain demanded Congress do in general after the Minnesote bridge collapsed.

Meanwhile, as you harp on this without bothering to dig to deep, I have seen nothing from you about her opposition to REAL ID (http://www.reason.com/convention2008/show/128519.html).

Seriously, Doug, if you want Obama to win, just say so. Otherwise you just insult our intelligence.
