Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama expressed cautious support for a $700 billion bailout of the nation’s biggest financial institutions, though both reserved the right to change their minds after they have reviewed details of the hastily arranged deal.
The candidates made their comments as both prepared to return to the campaign trail after an odd week in which electioneering was interrupted by the economic crisis, McCain’s brief pledge to suspend his campaign and the first debate between the two candidates.
(…)
On the economic bailout, McCain said on ABC’s “This Week” that he will “swallow hard and go forward” with the plan, adding that it is time to “get this deal off the table, let’s get this to the president.”
McCain, who returned to Washington last week to help Congress reach a deal, said yesterday that “the option of doing nothing is simply not an acceptable option.”
I’m not sure how Obama’s supporters feel about this one, but Don Surber is one Republican who isn’t too happy with John McCain this morning:
How foul is my mood?
I am too ticked to be tickled y the bloody irony of Democrats wailing on Republicans for their “tax giveaway” to the rich only to find themselves giving away $700 billion to cover the assets of the cheaters and nincompoops on Wall Street.
They gave away this money in a panic.
Without a hearing.
Without a committee meeting.
Without any input from anyone except the nincompoop treasury secretary.
This is an October surprise meant to kill the Republican Party.
And it worked.
The message is clear.
The audience was down for the debate because people have made up their minds.
They aren’t voting for Republican John McCain.
Conservatives will stay home.
Independents are breaking about 5-to-1 in favor of Democrat Barack Obama.
McCain blew it because he failed to call this load of crap the load of crap that it is. And without his leadership, House Republicans had little choice but to cave. They wound up being the odd guy out there and they did not want to be the ones who said no to this snowball headed for hell.
Ouch.

Please be aware that in the next few days, McCain will seek a replacement for the office of vice president. Why? Palin was just a fill-in to escape from the GOP. This candidate will be the mommy story of who could not make the dates, because they are locked in. Very soon the GOP will announce that Palin has too many mommy things to do and has clear up before she is allowed to leave the ticket. The only sincere effort would be to have the whole house and senate to sure up the vote for Mitt take her place. Don’t be surprised if McCain also announces his choice of running mates with the possibilities that the GOP will promote their own new ticket for the GOP nominations-revised. Be careful of the GOP this week. They do believe that they are the only ticket the voters will accept. The delay in making the announcement is due to GOP campaign confusing, and surely the voters will not have any of that.
Please ask what is reason for the change? Don’t be too surprise at the shenanigans of the GOP will employ to reserve their spot on the ticket. So take the necessary steps to insure that your ticket is soundly written and vocalize by the people of the party. McCain is having more and more senior moments, his disrespected Senator Obama by turning his shoulder away from same. This is not the thing you want to happen without your party justifying the need for that change. Just list the ‘mommy’ things Palin and her family had planned prior to the announcement.
The reasoning for this change is the mommy had other parental obligations to her family that did not include running for the office of the vice president. Also, the back-biting nonsense to oppose you for guidance will stay stuck on the house’s floors.
This shows the carelessness and disrespectfulness level the GOP would go through to confuse the voters with so-called issues. The only issue I have is how soon can we throw the miscreants out for fraud and miss-use of funds?
