The Ohio State Buckeyes have something special in Freshman Quarterback Tyrelle Pyror, and yesterday’s victory over the Michigan State Sparatans showed why:
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Before the Ohio State football team boarded the bus Friday for the five-hour trip to Michigan State, the freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor stopped by Coach Jim Tressel’s office with a request he had never heard in more than two decades of coaching.
Pryor told him that he should come out of the game if the Buckeyes failed to move the ball in the first quarter.
Pryor then made certain that Tressel never had to consider that possibility, repeatedly making plays and combining with a stifling defense to lead 12th-ranked Ohio State to a 45-7 victory over No. 20 Michigan State on Saturday.
The Buckeyes set off a rout almost immediately with three unanswered touchdowns in the game’s first 13 minutes, each of them engineered by Pryor.
Ohio State’s offense, under fire for a lackluster performance in last week’s victory over Purdue, responded with its highest-scoring game of the season. And the defense scored two touchdowns off fumble recoveries while holding Javon Ringer, the nation’s leading rusher entering the game, to a season-low 67 yards.
“I don’t know exactly what breakouts are, but it was an excellent win for us,” Tressel said after his team improved to 7-1 over all, 4-0 in the Big Ten.
Yea, I’d say your right about that one Tressel.
Next week, the Buckeyes welcome the undefeated No.3 Penn State Nittany Lions — who beat Michigan 46-17 yesterday — in what is clearly the biggest game of the remainder of the season. If the Buckeyes win that game and run the table on the rest of the season, they might just have a shot at the BCS Title Game once again.

We’ll be rooting for opposing teams in this one, Doug, but I suspect that we’ll agree that it promises to be a great game, and we’ll both be watching.
