Another Bad Number For McCain

With two weeks left, Barack Obama has more than three times the amount of cash on hand that McCain does:

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama reports spending $87.5 million in September. His campaign financial report shows he began October with $133.6 million in the bank.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain spent $37 million in September, leaving him $47 million for the campaign in October.

Even when you add in help from the national party’s McCain is still far behind:

Both candidates are also getting help from their respective parties. The Democratic National Committee had $27.4 million in hand at the end of the month. The Republican National Committee said it had $77 million.

That makes the stakes a bit closer, with the Democrats holding a $37 million advantage.

What this means is that Obama has an effectively unlimited budget, not just for television advertising but also for get-out-the-vote efforts, mailers, and all the other things campaigns do in the final weeks of a campaign……
