Below The Beltway

I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

I Didn’t Realize God Was Registered To Vote

Sarah Palin identifies the ultimate swing voter:

FINDLAY, Ohio (CNN) –- In an interview posted online Wednesday, Sarah Palin told Dr. James Dobson of “Focus on the Family” that she is confident God will do “the right thing for America” on Nov. 4.

Dobson asked the vice presidential hopeful if she is concerned about John McCain’s sagging poll numbers, but Palin stressed that she was “not discouraged at all.”

“To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder,” she told the influential Christian leader, whose radio show reaches tens of millions of listeners daily. “And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”

And if you end up flying back to Anchorage at the end of the day on November 4th, what does that mean ?

Notwithstanding Palin’s optimism, though, Dr. Dobson seems to think the situation is more dire:

Dobson says that he anad other pastors have been praying to God for his intervention in the election: “We were just asking for, rather boldly asking, for a miracle with regard to the election this year..”

As a Catholic Priest once told me, God may answer your prayers, but you may not like the answer.

The Republicans have messed up badly for 8 years — they have not paid attention to the real things that bother the voters — health care, immigration policy, personal security, financial security for citizens, and, of course, the Bush Cheney led war in Iraq.As a former military macho — McCain will continue Bush’s arrogance and his disregard for US citizens needs.  His cutesy choice of a woman with no substance and no knowledge who has already demonstrated that she will go shopping out of the public purse and take her family on taxpayers dollars on junkets indicates how much checking he did before he acted.  Obama could have had a much better woman on his ticket — Hiliary Clinton — instead he chose Biden’s experience which is needed in America for a revamp of foreign policy. A good leader knows his weakness and Obama knows where he is weak so he made a choice for experience in one of his own weaker areas.
McCain does not know how to lead children to a candy store. He would bully them just like Bush has bullied the American people.

Doug, while I know you’ve turned Sarah Palin bashing into an art form, you’re misreading her on this one. What Governor Palin knows is that, win or lose, God is in control, and that’s what’s right for America. She knows that won’t change whether November 5 finds her flying to Washington or Anchorage.

And I tend to think that God, if he exists, has more important things to worry about than the outcome of an election in one nation on one planet in a universe full of billions of galaxies.

You can thank your Democratic Party for the current financial crisis.
The Democratic Party(through Democratic dominated organizations such as ACORN, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac and Democratic inspired laws such as the Community Reinvestment Act) intimidated banks into lending money to poor minorities and whites who could not possibly pay the money back.
The resulting bad loans were packaged into mortgage securities which(since they were based on fraudulent loans) had no significant value.
It is no accident Obama and Dodd are the top two recipients of Fannie Mae campaign contributions and that Obama chose Jim Johnson(former Fannie Mae executive) to select his vice presidential nominee. It is no accident Obama represented ACORN and that he and Ayers donated to ACORN while they were on boards together. It is no accident Democrats such as Frank, Dodd, Reid, Pelosi and Obama did not join John McCain when John McCain called for reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2005. It is no accident Democrats like Obama, Dodd, Reid, Pelosi, and Frank resisted President Bush’s calls for reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Don’t buy Obama’s demagogic claim Bush “deregulation” caused the current crisis! There was little financial “deregulation” under Bush and Gramm Leach Bliley(1999) was not only under Clinton but, by its breaking down of barriers between commercial and investment banks, has helped to alleviate the current crisis by facilitating recent mergers between commercial and investment banks. The media and Obama can cover up the above truths but the above truths can not legitimately be denied. The current crisis is directly traceable to your Democratic Party
