At the very least, the Democrats will have five additional seats in the new Senate, and there are four states where the race is still close to call.
In Georgia, Saxby Chambliss holds a slim lead over his Democratic opponent:
Chambliss looks like to both win and get above the 50% mark and avoid a runoff.
In Minnesota, Norm Coleman and Al Franken remain in a very tight race:
This one could go either way and may be headed for a recount in either case.
In Oregon, Gordon Smith is fighting for his life:
With 26% of the precincts still out, Smith is not out of the woods at all.
Finally, in Alaska, Ted Stevens (R., Federal Prison) is holding on to a slim lead:
Even if Stevens wins, I can’t imagine him actually serving out his term, at least not his Senate term.
