Barack Obama’s daughters will be attending the same school Chelsea Clinton did when her father was President:
WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama and his wife have chosen private Sidwell Friends School in Washington for their two daughters.
A spokeswoman for Michelle Obama, Katie McCormick Lelyveld, says the Obamas considered several schools for 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha but decided Sidwell Friends was the best fit.
Good for them, I’m sure they’ll get a fine education.
Though I’ve got to say it’s unfortunate that not every parents living in Washington, D.C. has the ability to make the same choice the Obamas did, and I’m sure that the President-Elect opposes the school vouchers that would give them the ability to do so.
And, no, I’m not saying that the Obamas should have sent their daughters to the D.C. Public Schools. That would have been an irresponsible and stupid decision, both for security reasons and because of the (low) quality of the education that they’d get there. All I’m saying is that it would be nice if all parents had the option of providing a better education for their children.

Any parent can, as long as they have the capacity to pay for it and Obamas can.

Tell that to a parent in Southeast or Anacostia.
