I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Joe The Plumber: Flush The First Amendment

A guy who owes his new job to the media apparently doesn’t think the media should exist:

(CNN) – ‘Joe the Plumber’ Wurzelbacher told a group of journalists covering the conflict in Israel and Gaza that he didn’t think the media should be allowed to report on war.

“I think media should be abolished from, you know, reporting,” Wurzelbacher said. “You know, war is hell. And if you’re gonna sit there and say, ‘well, look at this atrocity,’ well you don’t know the whole story behind it half the time, so I think the media should have no business in it.”

Which just leads me to something once said by America’s 3rd President:

Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.

So, instead of Joe The Plumber, I’ll take my wisdom from Tom The President.

It was an absurd statement and I doubt he realizes that what he is calling for would lead to him losing his job as well. He was made a celebrity during the election, but I think it it would be wise for the media to part ways with him. In the end its still their choice though, so I guess if he’s making them money or getting them popularity it might be worth it to them…

  3. David Wilson says:

Joe the Plumber was a tool manufactured for political propaganda. Sure, the press ate it up, but I agree with Doug and TJ…I’ll take competitive news channels over the tyranny of government.

  4. Thomas Jackson says:

Little wonder newspaper people are ranked beneath lawyers, used car salesmen and politicans in honesty. Who trusts or believes them. Tell the Joe.
