Abandon Your Cars Now

by @ 6:06 pm on January 26, 2009.

Looks like some nasty weather in the D.C. area starting tomorrow:

The Capital Weather Gang is warning us to expect snow, sleet and rain — in about that order — starting tomorrow morning and continuing into Wednesday.

That sounds especially bad for drivers during the morning and evening commutes, since the forecast involves early morning snow and a possible switch to sleet in time for the afternoon trip home.

So look for the requisite panic among the local weather forecasters to start, oh just about now.

    Heh.
This is about the time of year they start with the “THE DPW HAS NO MORE ROOM FOR THE SNOW!!!” routine up this way. Please, people… you lived in what, Florida, up until today?

It seems that people around here subscribe to the “biblical minimum when it comes to snowflakes: “whereever two or more are gathered….”

As for me, though I can drive in it (having grown up in Central Pennsylvania and spent much time in Anchorage in winter, on business trips), I stay off the roads. Those who can’t drive in it but try anyway scare me to death.
