I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

The Horror At 1:30pm

Despite the fact that it’s pretty obvious that no Congressman or Senator will have read the 1,000+ page monstrosity that is the stimulus bill, it seems fairly clear that the bill will pass the House fairly easily when it comes up for a vote at 1:30pm.

13th

After that it’s on to the Senate where Ted Kennedy will not be voting due to illness, meaning that either Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, or Susan Collins will cast the deciding vote for this monstrosity.

What if it works! What if… Have you also considered how much money is spent in unemployment benefits? Probably much more that the cost of the stimulus. By putting some people back to work, some taxes will return to the treasury and so on. You cannot win them all.

  2. Claudia,

Explain to me how this country is going to be able to create any real economic growth with a national debt equal to more than 12% of our Gross Domestic Product ?

  3. The crickets are chirping, Claudia. I guess there are no answers for the impending economic disaster that awaits us.

  4. Luise Wallace says:

I cannot for the life of me believe that there are grown people in this world who have the rose colored glass outlook on something this catastrophic. You say well maybe I’ll win the mega lottery, or maybe I’ll lose 2 dress sizes by the time my daughter gets married in 6 months. What if it works? Would you ever go into so much personal debt that your children and your children’s children and their children will not be able to pay it off? Get real. It’s because of people like you Claudia that this bill is getting passed. Are you by any chance a politician?????

  5. Robert says:

I did not here any resistance from any republican when they passed a stimulus package for the banking industry without any stipulations! How many jobs were saved? NONE!, infact many of the banks cut their payroll while their excutives tried to milk this country with their richie trips called conferences and their luxery jets! What about the adverge Joe? Remberr the republicans touted Joe the Plumber, well lets take care of the Adverge Joe!

  6. Robert says:

    Crystal Clear Conservative,

The impending economic disaster was created by the lack of fiscal responsibility republican party who increased spending two fold over past adminerstrations. I can not undrstand how over 700 billion dollars was spent for the was in Iraq and Afganastan andf not penny was shown in any budget summitted to congress for the past eight years. You conservatives think you can spend money and if it wasn’t in the budget you can forget about it. I hate to let you know it caused a 100% effect on the trillions of dollars of dept you left this country in from the Bush years!!

  7. Robert,

There were plenty of Republicans speaking out against the TARP bailout.

  8. Robert,

I don’t think Crystal would disagree with you about the fiscal irresponsibility of the Bush Administration. There many of us who saw what was going on, didn’t like it, and complained.

But the fact that George Bush spent like a drunken sailor on shore leave doesn’t mean that it’s okay for Barack Obama to do the same.

He is mortgaging the future of this country and it’s a debt I don’t think we’ll be able to repay.
