Dow Industrials: Partying Like It’s 1966

Here’s a chart that brings into reality both the current state of the stock market and the pernicious effect of inflation on real wealth

The black line is the nominal Dow, the blue line is the value of the Dow adjusted for inflation and it shows that, today, the Dow is at the same real level it was when Lyndon Johnson was President.
