I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Obama’s Phoney Budget Cuts

by @ Monday, April 20th, 2009. Filed under Barack Obama, Politics

Today’s Washington Post reports the latest in symbolism from the Obama White House:
President Obama convened his Cabinet for the first time today and instructed department heads to trim their budgets by a combined $100 million over the next 90 days.
Although the cuts would account to a minuscule portion of the federal budget, they are intended [...]

Janeane Garafalo Is An Idiot

by @ Friday, April 17th, 2009. Filed under Celebrities, Dumbasses, Politics

I really don’t need to say much, her words speak for themselves:

Here’s hoping that Jack Bauer recovers from his illness soon so that he can bitch slap her 24 character all over FBI Headquarters.

The Tea Parties: A Warning For Obama

by @ Friday, April 17th, 2009. Filed under Barack Obama, Politics

The Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson says that Wednesday’s protests, while not anything near an immediate threat to the President’s political power, do contain a warning that he’d do well to head:
[T]he polls also point to what looks like a reservoir of simmering discontent. For example, according to a CBS News-New York Times survey released last [...]

Texans Reject Rick Perry’s Wacky Idea

by @ Friday, April 17th, 2009. Filed under Dumbasses, Politics

As I noted yesterday, Texas Governor hinted that secession was an option for his state if the Federal Government continued to grow. Today, a new Rasmussen poll shows that the vast majority of his state’s residents disagree:
Thirty-one percent (31%) of Texas voters say that their state has the right to secede from the United States [...]

Georgia Threatens To Secede, Again

by @ Thursday, April 16th, 2009. Filed under History, Politics, U.S. Constitution

Apparently, they didn’t quite get the message back in 1865:
It wasn’t quite the firing on Fort Sumter that launched the Civil War. But on April 1, your Georgia Senate did threaten by a vote of 43-1 to secede from and even disband the United States.
It was not an April Fool’s joke.
In fact, Senate Resolution 632 [...]

Indians 10 Yankees 2: Not The Way To Open A New Ballpark

by @ Thursday, April 16th, 2009. Filed under Baseball, New York Yankees, Sports

Things didn’t quite go as planned in the Bronx today:
The Yankees controlled everything they could about the first game at their sparkling new palace on 161st St. on Thursday. Forty of their greatest living players hugged the infield dirt before the game. Yogi Berra tossed the first pitch. Crisp new flags for every team ringed [...]

Ron Paul Talks About Being P’wned By Sascha Baron Cohen

by @ Thursday, April 16th, 2009. Filed under Movies, Politics, Ron Paul

As I noted last month, Ron Paul recently found himself the victim of Sascha Baron Cohen’s latest impersonation.
Here he is talking about what happened:

Rasmussen: McDonnell Expands Lead In Virginia Governor’s Race

So far, the news is looking very good for Virginia Republicans this year:
Republican Bob McDonnell has lengthened his lead on all three Democratic hopefuls in the race to be Virginia’s next governor, but it’s a long way to Election Day.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds the closest race is between McDonnell, [...]

by @ Thursday, April 16th, 2009. Filed under Internet, Technology, Twitter

Oprah Winfrey is coming to Twitter:
It is the universal sign of a new idea going mainstream: Oprah Winfrey is bestowing her endorsement on Twitter.
The woman who can single-handedly send a new product or book flying off the shelves has just joined Twitter. She has not yet written a tweet, but more than 30,000 followers have [...]

Will The Right Learn From The Tea Parties ?

by @ Thursday, April 16th, 2009. Filed under Freedom of Speech, Individual Liberty, Politics

Like Justin Gardner, I’ve got to wonder if conservatives might learn something from yesterday’s protests:
Again, congrats to all of you who exercised your right to protest yesterday. It felt good, didn’t it? Not treasonous at all, right? Just remember that the next time you see somebody protesting against decisions you agree with.
One could say much [...]
