Via Hot Air, check out this clip from MSNBC where Andrea Mitchell explains that the reason such a large number of people with insurance oppose ObamaCare is because they may not know what’s good from them:
And you do, Ms. Mitchell ?
I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

If people are too stupid to know what’s good for them why are they smart enough to elect people that are good for them?
[...] ANDREA MITCHELL: People are too stupid to know what’s good for them. [...]
Isn’t this belief, that the vast majority of Americans are too stupid to know what’s good for them, the whole raison d’etre of CNN’s coverage?
Why don’t we just let Andrea Mitchell make all of the country’s important decisions from now on. Freedom and democracy’re such a hassle.
So people who know enough of what’s good for them to get a job that provides insurance, or at least make enough money to buy insurance, are less knowledgeable on this subject than people who cannot get a job that would somehow provide their insurance. I see.
We’ll I suppose it could be that large numbers of people are stupid, after all 53% of them voted for a community organizer with zero business, administrative and managerial experience, practically no legislative experience, and no comprehension of economics, taxes, foreign relations; someone whom the press didn’t bother to investigate even superficially, H*ll for all we know about him he may not even know how to drive.
The sheer arrogance of her statement just boggles the mind.
Good point, Chris.
Gee……Andrea must think Obama and the Dems in Congress aren’t stupid, and they have insurance, but they’ll be exempting themselves from the Government “option”. So they’re smart, but they’ll want nothing to do with the govt option. Andrea……..how do you reconcile that?
The thing that is suppose to be so great about living in America is that we should be able to determine what is good for us by ourselves. Unfortunately, the Andrea Mitchells of the world think that we should not be allowed to make that decision.
Better Than You…
Speaking of GE, Andrea Mitchell is awfully disappointed that you don’t know what’s good for you:
“You’ve got 47% of the people in our NBC/Wall Street Journal opinion poll who have health insurance who don’t like what the p…
Simply Ms. Mitchell? Why not disclose her full name? That would be Mrs. Greenspan.
My father used to call people like Andrea Mitchell “Educated Idiots”. I think she just proved his point. Heh.
Andrea is way more stupid than the people she calls stupid.
She should keep in mind that our politicians originate from the same pool of stupid people. So there should be a proportional amount of stupid people in our government. Like those who couldn’t run an automobile company, or an oil company, or a postal service, or a cash for clunkers program, or Medicare, or a VA hospital or even write checks to pay stimulus money to students in a summer worker program who upon taking office think they magically gain those skills it has taken others years to acquire.
Andrea, you can pull your face out of Obama’s ass at any time. A breath of fresh air might do you good.
If people are too stupid to know what’s good for them, and they’re listening to Andrea Mitchell…?
She is married to someone who probably screwed up the economy as bad as anyone. She needs to review who is the stupid one, her or us.
[...] [...]
Now, y’all DO remember the name of her husband, don’t you?
She mispoke. She meant to say people are not stupid enough to swallow this Deathcare snakeoil like she and Democrats were counting on. Andrea and lowlife elected tyrant friends seems mighty pissed that the American public is not being easily duped by this destroying Deathcare bill. That is why they are angry. They aren’t fooling anyone
She actually said that people “may not know what’s good for them” not that they’re too stupid. I believe she meant and believes the stupid part, but that’s not what she said. To beat this travesty, you must be accurate, otherwise the folks promting it will use your inaccuracy to discredit you. Chris’ comment still works if you replace “too stupid to know” with “may not know” and “why are they smart enough” with “how do they know enough”. That’s my 2 cents – although Andrea doesn’t think I know enough to spend it properly.
Just like an other dictator in the world, Congress and people like Anbdrea don’t want anyone making their own decisions. That is up to the dictators in charge. Maybe, just maybe if they are feeling generous, they will let you decide when you have to go to the bathroom all on your own!
Better think twice before screwing the entire population with this life and death hogwash they call Healthcare reform
How can Alan Greenspan be married to a person that holds such a stupid view of other people? Maybe The Maestro is also part of the problem.
Actually she is absolutely correct. Proof: the stupid people elected a least experienced, most over rated, most incompetent teleprompt-parrot to the presidency; and a most corrupt filibuster-proof Congress as their overlords.
“Sometimes it is said that man can not be trusted with the government of himself. Can he, then, be trusted with the government of others? Or have we found angels in the forms of kings to govern him? Let history answer this question.”
– Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address
Andrea Mitchell: Living proof that life is not fair.
I dunno…. I’m smart enough to not bother watching a**holes like Andrea Mitchell. And it appears more and more Americans are joining the smart set every day.
This is a standard paternalist attitude you see from those who support forcible intervention into people’s lives.
The WHOLE attitude of the RULING CLASS, summed up in this short clip.
I think she should lighten up on the Bo tox and use more Juvederm
Chris: problem is, they weren’t smart enough to elect people who are good for them, are they?
Silly Chris,
They weren’t smart enough! That’s why the media had to work so hard to fix the narrative in the first place to make sure they did, in fact, elect the right guy!
Andrea Mitchell says this because she knows that Fauxbamacare will affect those WITH insurance rather than those WITHOUT insurance.
Somebody bat some more balloons at Mrs Greenspan, please: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxKljoDdo5o
This attitude is why EVERY leftist communist paradise ends in a totalitarian police state. These leftist elites sooner or later must FORCE their ingrates to subcomb to their greater “wisdom”.
“People are too stupid to know what’s good for them.” … and that includes Andrea Mitchell too …
She’s married to a senile old fool, no wonder she thinks people are stupid, she is.
I’m so glad that smart people like Andrea Mitchell are looking out for us dolts in flyover country. It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling all over.
To paraphrase Bender on Futurama: “Andrea Mitchell can bite my shiny metal ass”.
Andrea Mitchell: You’re fired!
I’m too smart to watch Andrea Mitchell.
I belong to Mensa, and have studied hard science (as opposed to something like journalism) at a 4 year school. So obviously I am less qualified to make decisions about my own health insurance than this arrogant twit.
People like this are the reason why well-meaning liberal policies go badly astray. The arrogance involved is breathtaking.
Chris has pointed out the irony of Andrea Mitchell’s assertions. Did people’s stupidity or lack of knowledge lead to the election of Obama, Democratic Congress, or even the RINOs?
Is it stupidity that leads the people to watch NBC? Wait a minute, that doesn’t compute……….
And AARP knows better than we do?
Perhaps not stupid, but merely ignorant? Stupid and ignorant are not the same thing. One cannot be fixed, the other is curable. If I “don’t know what’s good for me”, it may be because of a curable ignorance, or incurable stupidity. Further investigation is needed to determine which condition applies.
The surest way to lose support is to express contempt for ones supporters. Andrea Mitchell has put her empathy and her intellect on display. It’s not pretty.
Thank goodness forward-looking conservative Joe Scarborough was there to set her straight. [Ha.]
In contrast to Ms Mitchell who definitely knew what was good for her and Mr Greenspan…her husband…and former Fed Chair..who helped get us into this mess? …More Money..
Neither Andrea or Greenspan ever got that wrong…
Arrogant self indulgent woman…
Maybe you have a point. I can say the same about the mentally challenged reactionary dimwits who are drawn to Palin and Joe the Skinhead Plumber
Stupid, ugy, elitist, beotch!!
But Andrea Mitchell knows what’s good for us. Just ask her.
“If people are too stupid to know what’s good for them why are they smart enough to elect people that are good for them?”
Good point, Chris. No doubt the Obama administration and the mainstream media will be working on that problem, real soon. Better that our elected official be chosen by those that know best, is how they will put it.
