I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Democratic Congressman Compares Town Hall Protesters To Nazi Brown Shirts

Just to prove that the Reductio ad Hitlerum knows no party loyalty, I give you Congressman Brian Baird (D., Wa):

Over 10 years in Congress, U.S. Rep. Brian Baird has stayed tethered to his district, flying back to Southwest Washington for more than 300 sometimes-bruising town hall meetings during Congressional recesses.

But this year, he’s literally decided to phone it in.

Instead of appearing in person, where “extremists” would have “the chance to shout and make YouTube videos,” Baird said Wednesday, he’s holding what he calls “telephone town halls” instead.

Baird said he’s using the new system because he fears his political opponents may be planning “an ambush” to disrupt his meetings, using methods Baird compared to Nazism.

“What we’re seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics,” Baird, D-Vancouver,

Here’s an idea for Congressman Baird, Rush Limbaugh, and the other children who think they’re scoring some great rhetorical point by bringing up the Nazis —– why don’t you guys just play amongst yourselves and let the adults handle things for awhile ?

Here’s another one for you. I’m not shortening the URL because it shows how disgusting the DNC’s tactics are:

Why is it that when the Conservatives protest it’s terrorism, or Naziism (of all bizarre things!), but when the Liberals do it it’s called freedom of speech!

  3. [...] MSNBC and Fox News as an ambient distraction. They were, let me say, quite awful to watch. Democratic Congressman Compares Town Hall Protesters To Nazi Brown Shirts – belowthebeltway.com 08/07/2009 Just to prove that the Reductio ad Hitlerum knows no party [...]

No wonder GOP shows distress – even confuses Virginia w/ Vancouver, WA. ( Headliner about Va Congressman calling protesters ” Brown Shirts” and proceeded to quote Dem from WA…) Ignorant and/or typically dishonest.
