Obama To The Opposition: Sit Down, And Shut Up

by @ 10:44 am on August 7, 2009.

He doesn’t want to hear from you:

“I expect to be held responsible, but I don’t want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don’t mind cleaning up after them, but don’t do a lot of talking.”

In other words, if you don’t agree with me, you’re part of the problem.

Update: Here’s the video:

I don’t read that the same way as you. He’s not telling those who disagree with him to shut up. He’s telling those who created the current economic mess to shut up & let him fix it. Nothing wrong with that.

However, it sounds like he is telling his economic adviser Lawrence Summers to shut up & stay out of the way. It wasn’t only Republicans like Phil Gramm who created this, but Summers was right in the center of making this mess.

Except for the fact that he’s made quite clear that anyone who opposes his health care plan “created the mess” so, you know, he wants the to shut up.

This pretty much puts the lie to any claims that Obama would change the way things are done in Washington. Its the same shit, different leader

sounds a lot like “your either with us or against us”… the change we can believe in indeed

    microzen,

You as well as everyone else who uses this line that “these guys caused it” like Grahm and summers etc, failt o make any argument as to why. Anyone who is analyzing this mess needs to answer a fundimental question – that is “why did an asset bubble form?” And the bubble formed before the rise in subprime mortgages. Until you can offer a thesis of what happened, claims that “deregulation” caused this mess fall flat and hollow.

He is telling those that created the mess to sit down and shut up. Medicare created by democrats, Medicaid created by democrats, HMOs Ted Kennedy’s creation. So, who should sit down and shut up? Take me out to the ball game, three strikes and you are out!
