I absolutely love Daniel Hannan. He’s so outspoken and honest and frankly I don’t wonder if he knows more about our country and constitution than most of our Senators and Congressmen. That’s scary!

The thing about health care that has me saying, “What?!?!” is its been PROVEN that socialized medicine doesn’t work. That is a FACT. The Europeans and Canadians are slowly transitioning to or trying to transition to a more free-market health care system. But Obama and crew are going full steam ahead with a program that will not only further bankrupt our country but severely decrease our quality of life. That’s not freedom, that’s oppression.

    Thanks for posting this!

This clip is complete nonsense. It quotes five-year-old figures for waiting times, which have been brought down enormously. On almost every health of the population measure, the UK is better than the US – see the OECD figures. And patients can top-up the service in various ways.

I’m no fan of the UK National Health Service, and would like to see patients pay more. But this is a travesty – and Daniel Hannan doesn’t even represent his own party’s views on the NHS.

Sure, once your country’s socialized health system produces doctor shortages and the people have suffered long enough, the government is all too willing to spend more money to entice more physicians into the field. But as Britain’s economy is plunging even further into the abyss, it’s a reminder of how much needless spending goes into trying to resuscitate a failed system just to bring it up to the standard of a free system which would have required none of this.

  4. Duncan MacInnes says:

Republican Party right wingers and its channel Fox News are something Joseph Goebbels would be really proud of (not apart from the fact that Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party would be considred lilly livered liberals compared to Fox News ‘commentators’ and their right wing Republican stooges). There is nothing ‘free’ at all about 46 million Americans not being able to afford comprehensive health insurance, and the blatent lies that Daniel Hannan spouts. At least in Britain people dont have to sell their homes to fund cancer treatment. There is no age cut off for NHS treatments, I know of someone who was offered a hip replacement at 95. The debate in the US is really, really scary, and I hope Obama pushes his reforms through.
