Ron Paul’s son is polling surprisingly well in the early stages of his bid for the Republican nomination for Senate in Kentucky:
Secretary of State Trey Grayson has been considered the presumptive nominee. But — Bowling Green ophthalmologist Rand Paul is a wild card — especially if he can tap into the national fundraising support of his father, former presidential candidate Ron Paul.
So far — Grayson leads 37% to 26% in the Republican primary. Despite the 11 point lead, that’s a strong early showing for the relatively unknown eye doctor.
Campbell County engineer Roger Thoney gets 5% Businessman and veteran Bill Johnson 2% – Math teacher Brian Oerther 0% with 30% either for someone else or undecided.
Not bad for an unknown eye surgeon.

Since Rand Paul is virtually unknown, according to the article, this may have to do with the hunger for someone other than Trey Grayson to be the GOP nominee in Kentucky.
Plus, Ron Paul has become more popular among mainstream Republicans since the election so his son could be benefiting from that as well.
