Dukakis For Senate ?

by @ 12:53 pm on August 28, 2009. Filed under Congress, Democrats, Politics

In the midst of the increasing indications that the Massachusetts legislature will take some action to allow Governor Deval Patrick to appoint a replacement Senator before a special election, the latest rumor is that we could see the return of a rather forgettable name:

Marc Ambinder and others are reporting that Michael Dukakis is the most likely placeholder Senator should the Massachusetts legislature grant Deval Patrick the power to make a temporary appointment until a special election can be held for Ted Kennedy’s seat

Say it ain’t so.

  1. Harry Landers says:

It’s just a short term appointment until a special election is held in January. Michael Dukakis served the people of Massachusetts well and honorably and it would be a fitting tribute to his career that he be given this appointment. Let the others fight for the Democratic nomination without any advantage that a short-term appointment might give them.
