I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

“Capitalism Is Evil” Says Man Who’s Gotten Immensely Rich Because Of Capitalism

Yes, it’s true, Michael Moore is an idiot:

VENICE (Reuters) – Capitalism is evil. That is the conclusion U.S. documentary maker Michael Moore comes to in his latest movie “Capitalism: A Love Story,” which premieres at the Venice film festival Sunday.

Blending his trademark humor with tragic individual stories, archive footage and publicity stunts, the 55-year-old launches an all out attack on the capitalist system, arguing that it benefits the rich and condemns millions to poverty.

“Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot regulate evil,” the two-hour movie concludes.

“You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy.”

So, Michael I’m assuming you’ll be fine if we bootleg all your movies and sell them ourselves, right ?

After all, democracy, right ?

    Heh:

I don’t agree with copyright laws and I don’t have a problem with people downloading the movie and sharing it…as long as they’re not trying to make a profit off my labor…

I make these movies and books and TV shows because I want things to change, and so the more people who get to see them, the better.

  2. Yes, but he wouldn’t want me to download it and sell it for a buck or two per DVD would he ?

  3. Mark Amagi says:

Michael Moore is an evil, and he makes lots of money off fools that feel guilty about the success of the capitalist system. Ah, if only we could be poor like the Cubans: You first Michael; give it up to the poor. He’s also ignorant: democracy is not an economic system; it’s a way to peacefully settle political questions, but unfortunately, most of his socialist comrades don’t believe in it, like Chavez, Castro, etc.

  4. Vance says:

Moore presumably invests his own and other people’s money in producing his films. Then he markets them and sells tickets to people for the purpose of seeing his film. Expenses are paid and he keeps the profits. He charges $30,000 for an appearance on a college campus.

No wonder he thinks capitalism is evil.

  5. MB says:

Doug, I really can’t figure out if you’re stupid or actively dishonest. I used to think you just a bit unrealistic, but have come to see that you’re pretty willing to throw out the lie whenever it suits you. In case you missed it (and I’m sure you did), Moore’s criticisms are aimed directly at exploitation, not making a buck. But you, in a way that I’ve come to see is your habit, willfully mischaracterize it for your own halfwit purposes. As I said, you’re a clown. Don’t mistake yourself for someone contributing something useful to the public conversation.

  6. MB,

Yea but Michael Moore and his repeated misrepresentation of facts to support the kind of anti-capitalist rant you usually get from some TA in college really contributes something to the public debate.

If Moore truly believed capitalism was evil, then he wouldn’t spend so much time trying to make money by utilizing the things that only it is responsible for creating. Like most faux intellectuals, he’s just posing.

  7. James Young says:

It’s not like I’ve not had my own disputes with you, Doug, but MB spews typical far-Left nonsense. “Exploitation”?!?!? That’s what the far-Left calls voluntary economic transaction of which it doesn’t approve.

By the same token, I suppose we (i.e., the rational) could declare that Michael Moore is “exploiting” virtually everyone ignorant enough to buy a ticket to one of his “documentaries.”

Remember when Reagan was saying that government was the problem?

  10. Perry says:

Interesting how capitalism is an economic system, and democracy is a political system. How the heck are you supposed to replace an economic system with a political system?

  11. anon says:

If capitalism is evil doesn’t that make him evil for knowingly employing it.

  12. Scott says:

Michael Moore says we need to replace capitalism with democracy. Hmm… One is an economic term, the other a political term. It’s like saying that we should replace gravity with enthusiasm. Huh? Of course, what Moore really means when he says “democracy” is socialism, but he’s too cowardly to use that word.

  13. Jean says:

If Mr. Moore was to be consistent, he should have titled his movie, “Corporatism is Evil”.
We haven’t had capitalism in this country in my lifetime. But then again, I’m guessing Mr. Moore got his education from the public schools, which teach you nothing.
