Yet Another Poll Proves It; David Paterson Is Finished

by @ 12:54 pm on September 25, 2009.

Following up on the Sienna Poll, a new Rasmussen poll confirms that David Paterson would lose a General Election against all rumored Republican opponents, and would be decisively beaten by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo:

Embattled New York Governor David Paterson has opened the door to dropping out of next year’s race, as new Rasmussen Reports polling shows him in a dead heat with one potential Republican challenger and trailing another by double digits.

A new Election 2010 survey in the state shows Paterson running even with former GOP Congressmen Rick Lazio, with both men capturing 38% of the vote. Lazio, who unsuccessfully challenged Hillary Clinton for the U.S. Senate in 2000, formally announced his candidacy on Tuesday.

Paterson trails former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani 50% to 39%, although Giuliani who unsuccessfully sought the Republican presidential nomination last year has not declared his candidacy for the gubernatorial race. The new numbers are a slight improvement for Paterson who was down 55% to 33% to Giuliani in July.

New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who reportedly has been touted by the White House as the Democrats’ best option in the Empire State, continues to fare better against GOP candidates and seems to be getting stronger. Cuomo beats Lazio 65% to 26% and Giuliani 58% to 37%. The latter numbers mark a significant improvement for Cuomo who bested Giuliani by only seven points in July.

Cuomo wins decisively – 61% to 27% in a Democratic Primary match-up with Paterson.

Put the fork in him folks, he’s done.
