The vote on a referendum to repeal Maine’s same-sex marriage law is way too close to call:
PORTLAND, Maine — The ballot box showdown over Question 1 remained too close to call Tuesday night as the nation watched to see whether Maine voters would become the first to approve same-sex marriage at the polls.
With 69 percent of precincts reporting, roughly 51.8 percent of voters had voted in favor of rejecting the same-sex marriage law passed by the Legislature earlier this spring. Roughly 48.2 percent of voters had voted no on Question 1.
Depending on how close it gets, this one may got to a recount.
