I don’t usually agree with Keith Olbermann on substance or style, but I was saying “Hell, yeah” after watching this one:

At the 5:15 point, I noticed Olbermann repeats the dishonest Sotomayor’s “Words out of context” excuse for “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.” remark.

And conservatives ignore the fact that Samuel Alito once said the same thing about Italian-Americans

    Googled for the quote
    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/07/sotomayor-hearings-judge-references-samuel-alitos-comments-about-his-own-background-.html
“When I get a case about discrimination, I have to think about people in my own family who suffered discrimination because of their ethnic background or because of religion or because of gender. And I do take that into account.”
How does that translate into he said he makes better conclusions overall because he is Italian-American?
    Or is it another quote?

  4. Let's Be Free Says:

Alito once said he takes into account his background and experience in looking at an issue which is totally different from saying literally dozens of times that his racial status makes him better qualified than others. Is anyone around here an empiricist?
