Of course, all government employees whether elected or not should also have a pledge as I first noted a few years ago (http://themodulator.org/archives/001662.html) somethng like this might work:

I pledge allegiance to the people of name your jurisdiction and swear to protect their lives, help them maintain their liberty and assist them in their pursuit of happiness.</description>
