According to a new Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll, pretty darn crazy:
Should Barack Obama be impeached, or not?
Yes 39
No 32
Not Sure 29
Okay, well, this one is pure partisanship. Ask the same question of self-identified Democrats a few years ago and the numbers favoring impeachment of Bush probably would’ve been higher. Impeachment is a political act, after all.
Do you believe Barack Obama was born in the United States, or not?
Yes 42
No 36
Not Sure 22
Further evidence that birtherism is alive and well in the Republican Party. We haven’t seen the consequences of this one play out yet.
Do you believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President than Barack Obama?
Yes 53
No 14
Not Sure 33
Seriously folks, what are you smoking out there ?
Do you believe Barack Obama is a racist who hates White people?
Yes 31
No 36
Not Sure 33
That one says more about the people answering Yes than it does about Barack Obama.
Should openly gay men and women be allowed to teach in public schools?
Yes 8
No 73
Not Sure 19
Not surprisingly, Republicans don’t support gay marriage, are marginally against gays in the military, and don’t believe government benefits should be extended to gay couples, but this one just blows my mind. What are you afraid the gayness rubs off or something ?
Should public school students be taught that the book of Genesis in the Bible explains how God created the world?
Yes 77
No 15
Not Sure 8
Sigh.
This is the base of the GOP, my friends.

“What are you afraid the gayness rubs off or something”
That’s part of… the other part is that they want to impose a Theocracy on America.
Considering the source (DailyKos) I put 0 credence in any of the numbers in the poll.
Yeah, Doug, do you really think Kos actually polled anyone?
The poll was conducted by Research 2000, an independent polling company.
And, honestly, I am not at all surprised at the results.
On the question of openly gay men and women teaching in schools, I think not. Here’s why: I don’t agree with homosexuality, but I also think it’s your business, not mine. However, it’s my business to teach values to my children. And if I teach my children that the gay lifestyle is not an acceptable one, I don’t want the teacher “validating” that lifestyle.
So let me modify my answer: as long as the teacher taught, and didn’t make political/cultural statements about homosexuality, then I’m ok with them teaching. How do we enforce this fairly?
I don’t think he should be impeached, I do think he was hatched in the US, and I do think Palin is much more qualified to be President. He’s not a racist, and I don’t think religion should be taught in school (other than intro or comparative religion courses).
And women should not be allowed to wear the hijab in public.
