Last night Arizona Senate candidate J.D. Hayworth appeared on Rachel Maddow’s show to discuss his comment on Sunday that authorizing gay marriage could lead to “men marrying horses”:

Connecticut, 381 U.S. 479, 486 (1965). Because it fulfils yearnings for security, safe haven, and connection that express our common humanity, civil marriage is an esteemed institution, and the decision whether and whom to marry is among life’s momentous acts of self-definition.
So yea, he’s wrong.
