RICHMOND – The Virginia Attorney General’s office has officially field a lawsuit challenging the federal government’s overhaul of the health care system.
Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s office delivered the suit this afternoon to the U.S. District Court in Richmond, a few minutes after the president signed the controversial health care bill into law.
Cuccinelli claims the federal government’s law is in conflict with a Virginia law, passed during the recent General Assembly session. That Virginia law states that nobody can be compelled to purchase health insurance. A key part of the federal law will require the uninsured to get coverage, or face penalties.
