Congressmen Receive Death Threats After Voting Yes On Health Care Reform

This is just stupid:

At least 10 House Democrats are receiving access to increased security after receiving threats linked to their votes on the health care overhaul bill signed into law on Tuesday.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said at a Capitol Hill press conference that he is concerned by a rash of at least four incidents of vandalism targeting lawmakers who voted to approve the legislation, which did not receive any Republican votes.

And one target in particular is Bart Stupak, whose office has received threatening messages:

Fox News also reports on it’s Twitter Feed that Stupak has received threatening faxes, including this one:

As with the gas line incident, there really is no excuse for any of this, and what Jonathan Bernstein says goes double for me:

Hey, Tea Party types, and conservatives in general: the same goes for you. No, you’re not all the kind of people who would throw slurs at John Lewis…so stop allowing signs and posters at your events that make you look like a group that would be fine with that. Stop using language that stops oh so carefully short of inciting people to violence. Run a tighter ship.

Yep, and soon, before someone really gets hurt.

Yeah. Like the Democrats did with people like Bill Ayres and the Weatherman?

Where in the heck was all this media concern about violence when ELF Eco terrorist were torching SUVs? Where were they when Code Pink “rallies” turned violent as they protested violence of war? Where were the concerned journalist when mobs marched in the streets burning a likeness of President Bush and hanging another likeness of Bush with a noose around his neck?

Where was all the concern when books, like “Check Point”, were published about assassinating President Bush or when, out of Hollywood of course, came the MOVIE “Death of a President” which is about the assassination of President George W. Bush?

Where was all the media concern about violence when Air America, talk show host Randi Rhodes recommended doing to Bush what Michael Corleone, in “The Godfather, Part II,” does to his brother “Like Fredo,” she said, “somebody ought to take him out fishing and phuw!” — then imitated the sound of a gunshot. In the Guardian, a leading British daily, columnist Charlie Brooker issued a plea: “John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr. — where are you now that we need you?”

I won’t even cover Dick Cheney or Tom Delay… The list is long but I grow weary trying to recall all the violence and/or threats of violence by progressives/liberals in the last 45 years

Do not even THINK of showing up anywhere with a likeness of Obama with a noose around its neck (like they did with Bush). You may never get out of jail.
