I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Former Reagan And Bush Adviser Supports Obama On Foreign Policy

James Baker who served as Chief of Staff, Secretary of the Treasury, and Secretary of State under Presidents Reagan and Bush 41 had some surprisingly supportive words for President Obama:

Former H.W. Bush Secretary of State and White House Chief of Staff James Baker conveyed support for “the overwhelming majority of Barack Obama’s foreign policy agenda” in an interview last Wednesday night, the Texas Tribune reports.

In a lengthy interview with Evan Smith, founder of the Texas Tribune, Baker spoke on a variety of foreign affairs topics, including the border dynamic between Mexico and the Southwestern United States, the importance of the Middle East peace process, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“There are a number of things this administration has done in foreign policy that I agree with,” Baker said when asked about Obama’s handling of international relations, particularly Iraq and Afganistan.

Baker continued, talking about Vice President Biden’s recent trip to Jerusalem during which Israel announced plans to go forward with new settlements.

“Republican and Democratic administration have always said that settlements are an obstacle to peace,” Baker said.

When asked if the timing of the announcement was an “insult” to America, Baker responded: “It was pretty close to it…there needs to be respect on both sides, we need to respect Israel and her her needs and goals and desires and she needs to respect us.”

“I support what’s being done,” Baker said about Obama’s Iran policy. “I’m not one of these people who thinks you either talk to people or you shoot at them, there’s middle ground.”

So how long will it be before the neocon noise machine denounces Baker as a RINO ?
