Rush Limbaugh Suggests That Oil Rig Explosion Was Part Of A Conspiracy

Twice yesterday, Rush Limbaugh spread the idiotic theory that the destruction of the oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico was part of a “conspiracy”:

First, there was this:

RUSH: I want to get back to the timing of the blowing up, the explosion out there in the Gulf of Mexico of this oil rig. Since they’re sending SWAT teams down there now this changes the whole perspective of this. Now, lest we forget, ladies and gentlemen, the carbon tax bill, cap and trade that was scheduled to be announced on Earth Day. I remember that. And then it was postponed for a couple of days later after Earth Day, and then of course immigration has now moved in front of it. But this bill, the cap-and-trade bill, was strongly criticized by hardcore environmentalist wackos because it supposedly allowed more offshore drilling and nuclear plants, nuclear plant investment. So, since they’re sending SWAT teams down there, folks, since they’re sending SWAT teams to inspect the other rigs, what better way to head off more oil drilling, nuclear plants, than by blowing up a rig? I’m just noting the timing here.

Then, there was this:

RUSH: Now, here’s the regime kicking into action here on the Gulf oil well or the rig explosion, President Obama mere moments ago in the Rose Garden before presenting the teacher of the year award.

OBAMA: I do want to speak briefly to the American people about the recent BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Earlier today DHS Secretary Napolitano announced that this incident is of national significance and the Department of Interior has announced that they will be sending SWAT teams to the Gulf to inspect all platforms and rigs and I have ordered the secretaries of interior and Homeland Security as well as administrator Lisa Jackson of the Environmental Protection Agency to visit the site on Friday to ensure that BP and the entire US government is doing everything possible not just to respond to this incident but also to determine its cause.

RUSH: Wow. All right, so SWAT teams, we’re sending big sis down there, Janet Napolitano, to look at all the valves and stuff, make sure they’re properly greased. He-he-he-he. Ahem. And Lisa Jackson is doing the same thing. So obviously the regime is open to the idea that this is not an accident. The regime is open to the possibility that this could well have been on purpose. Don’t forget, the original Earth Day, 40 years ago, was inspired by the river in Cleveland catching fire. Forty years later, the day before Earth Day this year, the Gulf is on fire. Coincidence? Jury’s still out. The regime is on the case, soon to tell us what happened.

Tell me again why this man is being taken seriously.

It’s pretty hard to convince anyone who actually listens to Rush that he is an idiot.

I started listening to him during the Mark Foley affair. I had stupidly assumed that he was a racist, bigoted, homophobic blowhard, as the state controlled media says he is. But since Stephanie Miller and other “liberal” talk radio people were telling gay jokes, equating gay people with pedophiles, and calling for the good salt of the earth American family folk to grab their pitch forks and tar and feather all them there Ray-poobleekans who had been covering for Foley, I wanted to see what the conservative talk radio people were doing.

I found no homophobic smearing of the kind I heard on Air America. And I discovered that virtually every time I heard or read NBC/CBS/ABC/WaPo/NY Slimes tell me what he said their reports were out of context or outright lies.

Though I give you somewhat more credit than them, between you and Rush I will trust him.

I also realized that the reason all the flaks and whores in the DC media hate him is that he breaks stories a day or two before they appear on TV (though I think they may appear on Drudge as rumors or developing stories before they get to Rush). Rush mainly spends his day exposing the machinations and cover-ups of the POTUS, Congresscritters, big media, and the two parties. That is why they hate him. Many stories only appear on TV because Rush has already told 30 million people about them, so they can no longer ignore them.

There’s usually more to it. Kind of hard to make a judgment on a couple of select excerpts.

I didn’t listen to this particular show, but knowing what I know of Rush he wouldn’t have said these things without a backdrop to compare these ridiculous claims to other equally ridiculous claims propelled in the media during the Bush regime. I could be wrong, but I’ve seen enough of these clips to know they don’t tell the whole story.

Oil Rigs do not burn the way that one did. The fire was too intense. Also, the BOPs have multiple fail safe systems. It is not realistic to think that all of the systems would have failed. Curiously, I have not seen any media interviews with workers who were on the rig immediately after the incident. Normally the media is all over this type of thing. This caught my attention immediately. Yep, something ain’t right in the Gulf.

He reported that the White House was sending SWAT teams to inspect the other wells.Maybe they think it wasn’t an accident. The only mention of conspiracy I saw was in the headline.

  5. There area no Dept of Interior SWAT teams, I’m sure it was just a euphemism

  6. DaveFP says:

And why wouldn’t it be terrorism? Let’s see how this plays out.

  7. Norske Div says:

Obama sent SWAT teams down there (THIS ACCORDING TO CBS, NOT LIMBAUGH), why would he do that? For the hell of it? No, because they thought there was some possibility that SWAT teams would be helpful. When would SWAT teams be helpful? If there was some group of people engaged in sabotage or misbehavior. In which case, Limbaugh’s speculation was simply THE ONLY LOGICAL CONCLUSION ONE CAN DRAW FROM THE PRESENCE OF SWAT TEAMS.

Either that, or the Federal government dispatched SWAT teams, and they are totally superficial and did it just for show. Making that assumption would really be going out on a limb, if Limbaugh had done that, then yes, he’d be giving Obama short shrift. But he assumed Obama has some reason to dispatch SWAT teams, so he was being charitable.

Really, if you’re going to go after Limbaugh, then go after him for a reason, like his lack of support for Health care reform. Not stupid SH*T like this that just proves you CANT READ.
