Below The Beltway

I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

The Below The Beltway Sarah Palin Challenge

Watch this seven minute clip from last night’s post-speech O’Reilly Factor and tell me at what point the former Governor of Alaska actually makes a coherent point:

Yea, I couldn’t figure it out either

I’m not in any way a Palin supporter, but her answer to the second question – where she decried Obama for waiting 8 weeks to meet with BP’s CEO and thus allowing BP to define the facts of the spill is absolutely on the money.

But for the most part she has an annoying habit of unloading a stream of consciousness that is extremely difficult to decipher.

  2. What purpose is served by Obama meeting the CEO ?

It’s like a Soviet-US summit in the Cold War. The real work is done by the underlings

  3. lahru says:

The President met with the BP exec’s to discuss 20 Billion dollars. They capitulated. Why? BP”s guilt is obvious. So the next time they should meet should be to discuss the next 20 billion. Maybe after Christmas. The president has more pressing issues than giving BP a stage appearance.

  4. GOP SUX says:

blah blah blah… what a load of poo. America and/or BP would pay millions or billions to anyone who knew how to stop the leak. The dutch and Norwegians ‘aint go a clue either. What they provide are the regulations on the front end to reduce the risk or make sure these cowboy capitalist don’t do it on the cheap! Gamblers on Wall Street and gamblers in the Gulf with the subservient and compliant deregulating pimps in the GOP have caused incalculable damage to this country.

This half term twitter quitter is a joke and I will never get that 7 minuets on my life back.

The fact that you can’t decipher what she is saying says more about you, Doug than it does about her. I thought she made perfect sense. Maybe you should get more oxygen to your brain or something. Chill on your own ego b/c you just made yourself look ignorant.

    You know the answer…
“Nice batch of oil rigs you have out there. Too bad if they had to be confiscated by the US Govt for non-payment of fines. What fines? Oh, we meant the new fines we’re about to drop on you, thanks to this shiny new law we’re about to pass – shall we go ahead and pass it then?”

As far as I can tell, BP broke no law, and cut corners on blowout safety because the Feds put a cap of $75 million on any liability, which is chump change for them. There was nothing much for the gov’t to get them on, so there was no reason for them to cave.

  7. DEO says:

We can certainly look to the Norwegians for safety measures BEFORE a well is built, but they don’t have a clue NOW after the fact. The safety measures were never put in place.
It WAS explored, it IS being explored, everything is being looked at….the crushing truth is that this should have been done BEFORE (Obama wasn’t there when this BP well went through), and we are looking at a dead sea scenario NOW.
It’s not Obama’s fault and her saying that he doesn’t WANT it plugged up (that’s what she was getting at) is not helpful, it is just self-promoting and nerve wracking.
I don’t know what has to happen for all to come together, but it’s obvious to me that that is not going to happen. $arah is a cheerleader for division.
$arah is just jabbing, reaching for straws, she isn’t in the loop and that must gaul her. It’s always whine, whine, whine, it always gets to be about her.
We have a really pressing problem here, I think we ALL want this fixed, so does the President.
